Girls Rule! Mt. Elbert Rocks!

SO here it is.
Our YW left Friday afternoon to camp at Twin Lakes. We spent the rainy night in a campground near the Mt Elbert trailhead at an elevation of almost 10,000 ft. Saturday morning we started hiking bright and early. We had 7 girls, 3 women and 3 men.
Here are all the ladies.

I am happy to say I stood on the top of the world with my hubby.
OK, not the total top of the world, but a large portion of it.
Don't forget, that makes 2 summits for him in less than one week.
It must be those strong calves.
As we sat on the summit we watched a couple actually get married.
They and their "minister" hiked to the top to get hitched.

Here I am with the 2 girls who summitted about the same time I did. Way to go! I am more than happy to say that out of our group of 13, all 13 made it to the top. Words cannot describe my pride and admiration for these fine, stubborn, strong Young Women.
Hats off to MaryLou who threw up 5 times in the first hour of hiking and still summitted! Everyone else I know would have given up with that. It was a total sports triumph movie. As we were coming down from the summit, we turned a corner at around 13,800 ft and there she was trudging up the mountain. I think I had an allergic reaction cause my eyes
wouldn't stop watering for about an hour.
Oops, here they go again.

Wow, Bethany. I can't think of a better person to have done this with these girls. You are simply fabulous. I got goosebumps while reading your blog.

And, wow. Marylou. What an amazing girl she is!
